About the Artist
Danielle Coenen is a Boston-based painter who creates portraits characterized by saturated palettes and merging of realism with expressive abstraction. She received a BFA from The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University in 2011, trained in both figure painting and sculpture. Danielle has had solo exhibitions in Boston and New York City, and her latest solo exhibition "XX" is currently on view at Curation 250 in Lowell, Ma. Features of her work include a Ted Talk at Harvard University by Dr. Robert Mendoza, WGBH.com, and an upcoming interview with Simmons University magazine. Danielle is also a nationally recognized art educator with awards from The Scholastic Foundation and The National Young Arts Foundation.
About the Exhibit
Faces merge with abstract marks of paint and mixed media. At times, they are more evocative, with an intense gaze and deconstructed mouth or concealed eyes. Other times, the character's expression is quieter, but there is tension against the quality of the paint, looking eroded from different textures that are scraped and scratched at in several layers. Surreal palettes and dissipating forms bring an ethereal quality to the characters, allowing them to take shape and come undone again.
About the Artist
Chorale combines years of experience behind the lens with a passion for portraiture to capture the energy and emotion of your event, wedding, birthday, portrait, or brand, from the most important moments to the most intimate details. Her portraits have hung in galleries and won awards around the country, and in shooting everyone from toddlers to performing celebrities she’s learned that her most evocative images come from a deep connection to her subjects. Her fine-art background makes her images captivating, and her technical proficiency means she’s ready for whatever opportunities (and curveballs) the situation might present.
